We didn't evacuate for Hurricane Ike, like we did for Rita in 2005. Nope. Instead we hid from the fierce 100mph wind in a closet until we heard water dripping in places it shouldn't. We should have stayed in the closet and slept, but instead we spent 6 hours trying to catch rain that was pouring into our house from holes in the roof caused by the wind. It was a futile effort because the water ignored our buckets and spread throughout the back half of our house--both upstairs and downstairs. Its amazing how much damage 6 hours of heavy rain can do on a house.
Maybe we should go with a winter-wonderland themed toyroom.
Falling sheetrock and water is very loud!
Shane and a few members of Nottingham 1st Ward helped with the cleanup.
Thanks guys!
This was taken a few days after storm and still the floor was soaked.
The cooler was catching residual drips.
Our windows don't keep hours of sideways rain out.
The water caused some paint to peel off.

This was common the day before the storm.
We are extremely thankful that none of us were injured in the slightest and we were able to save most of our possessions. Thank you for all of your prayers and help.
