Summer 2009

Heres a few pics from the summer of 2009.

June went quickly

Where oh where did June go? Here's some guesses:

1.) School award ceremony for Kaeta receiving the "All-A's-All-Year" award

2.) Posing for a picture to give to her teacher. (Kaeta planted this sunflower from a seed in Ms. Courter's class. Kaeta was told that no one else in the class had success.)

3.) Last day of class for Kaeta's first year in school (June 4th.)

4.) Another Father's Day

5.) Starting potty training (Sorry Henry, this was a complete failure)

6.) Bad haircuts (sorry, Andy)

7.) Finding the source of bees in the house

8.) Looking goofy (sorry again, Henry)

Spring Vacation '09

We took a mini-cation to Gulf Shores, Alabama to celebrate the ending of Kaeta's first year in school coming up on the 4th of June. Gulf Shores happens to be about half way to Atlanta, so we invited the Kellys to join us for a repeat of our 2006 Destin vacation, but with double the kids. The beaches in Gulf Shores were nearly as impressive as Destin's--and 2 hours closer to Houston.

When we weren't at the beach or pool...kids played UNO while the adults napped. They played a lot of UNO.

Henry was all smiles the entire trip and made friends with Cousin Miles and Calvin.

P.S. The best cheesecake we've ever had can be found in Gulf Shores at Hope's Cheesecake!

Amie wants to be a farmer. Real farmers have chickens. Amie has chickens. Chickens need a coop. Real farmers build their own coop. Amie built her own coop. Her design.

Mother's Day 2009

I admit: I'm not creative. Breakfast in the morning,

and dinner in the evening.

I need ideas for next year.

2nd April Birthday - Kaeta

Kaeta's 7th birthday was her best birthday yet! ...or at least that's what we pretended because Amie had to miss it to see her brother George get married. (That'll teach her to leave us alone for a weekend!)

Kaeta had to use Loreli and Henry's help to solve clues to find each of her 7 birthday gifts. (Hey, it kept them all busy for at least an hour. And we all know that when dad babysits that's the goal--keep 'em busy!)

A sub-goal is to make them realize just how cool dad is! (Lets face it, most of us have kids because we had low self-esteem issues and kids make us feel like hometown heroes...until we do something stupid). Look how happy my little 7 year-old is!

I found it funny that within an hour of getting her birthday gifts I found some of them discarded in a toy bin.

The day after Kaeta's birthday we had a big rain storm. The streets flooded within minutes. The cars in the picture are stranded in the center because its the high point.

Of course when the flood water receded, we had to go on an adventure walk to the park to see the damage. (Again...remember gotta keep them busy.)
